Unveiling My Truth Beyond the Screen
Believe it or not, last week somebody messaged me on Twitter , telling me I had potential to be a lifestyle influencer and forget about writing. I said no, as that's not my focus on life. That person went ballistic on me, called me all kind of rude names. I blocked him. This is my answer
I seek to step back from the role that social media reach has scripted for me,
Because I aim to demonstrate to the youth that there’s more to aspire to — something tangible and true.
Their hearts, already brimming with the synthetic sheen that screens exude.
I wish to shed that illusory mantle of influence, to truly be me.
To hold the thought that I did not partake in peddling a hollow emblem to the world.
I step down from the ranks of those who aim to sway,
Those unaware of life’s true rigor and fray.
For in the glow of likes and shares, I’ve lost sight of day’s true light,
And in the echo chamber of virtual praise, I’ve misplaced the sound of my own voice.
I desire to reclaim authenticity in an age of curated illusions,
To embrace the flaws and the rawness that comes with being human.
In turning away from the spotlight’s glare,
I find a path less trodden but more sincere.
It’s a journey without the noise of approval or the shadows of doubt,
Where every step is a verse, and every breath, a story lived out.
I choose to leave behind the metrics that measure worth in attention fleeting,
To find solace in the simple, the unadorned, the meaning that comes from just being.
For the young who look up and search for a sign,
I hope to leave a legacy that’s genuinely mine —
One of depth and purpose, not just a shimmering surface,
A testament to life’s essence, beyond the digital circus.
