The Bots and Their Narc Owner
How low can you go to be social-media famous?
I am just an average millennial lady. In the Myspace era, first joined social media in order to post awkward selfies, practice my English, and overall, make friends from all over the world. It worked for me for a long while, as I have met and had the pleasure to talk to lovely people through the years. I am not made for cheap lies or fake attitudes and guess it was one of the reasons that slowly made me gain a nice following of people from all the corners of the world. With a few of them, I am still in touch up to this day. We may live far away one from the other, but the internet made us friends.
And you know that one of the best ways to start getting hated are to outshine others, and without being fully aware of it, I started outshining the wrong person, and I say “wrong”, because this owner of a verified account is somewhat of an online thug, with a bit of stalker and narc added to the mix. Without me knowing about it, this person made his career look bigger by bullying and fake-reporting profiles that had a big chance of outshining him quickly. And, then, he learned about my existence. And felt the need to eradicate my account and these of many others.
How did this person find you?
Well, we both are old-school social media users, and we both like to post stuff that some might consider funny. The difference lies in the fact that I went for the literary path, and this person went for the comedy one. It was natural, as my account gained some following, for this dude to learn about me.
What I didn’t know about him.
This guy comes from an “old-money” family, so when he first joined Twitter, he had the brilliant idea of spending enough money to buy over 10,000 fake accounts to use them as socks/give like retweet to his own posts. But he also uses them to make famous tweeter users support him a bit forcefully. How? To using those to diss or clog the engagement of those who dare to not support him. And I fell into this category and refused to bow down to him, so he got angry. Thus, my account lost a lot of traction.
Has this been reported?
Many times, by many users. But he spends a lot of his family money (have I mentioned this bully is over 40?) in more socks accounts to make himself “an influencer”. And some of the users of the accounts he targets with bots are afraid of him, as his account is over 100,000 followers.
Why do you felt the need of sharing this?
Maybe to vent a bit. Maybe to invite you to follow me on Twitter. Maybe to a bit of both.
Names?
Only privately, as this person exhibits some narcissistic traits, and public exposure will only give him the thrill he seeks. I would rather keep reporting him and his accounts.
Any word of advice?
Probably you already know it, but there is nothing wrong with repeating it. Don’t share a lot of personal info with strangers on social media. Beware of the fake reports. And if you want to make it big on show-biz, work on your skills, faking it with bots won't take you very far, kid.
