Building self-confidence is something that can take a lifetime, but here are six little steps that will help you start to lose that immobilizing insecurity.

1. Build an attitude of mental confidence: Although circumstances may seem to be against you, feel confident that you have all the necessary qualities to get ahead in life. Even if it may be difficult at first, work on learning to trust yourself. If you keep criticizing and badmouthing yourself, what can you expect from life? We should be our best friends because even if we are alone, we are always going to have to carry ourselves, so there is nothing better than to make our lives easier by loving ourselves. If necessary, seek professional help to learn how to gradually leave behind those beliefs about yourself that only limit you as a human being.

2. Be kind to yourself when comparing yourself to others: Keep in mind that, as different human beings, our life circumstances are not the same. Each one has different values and stories. Nor do we all have the same qualities, so it is absurd to expect our life path to be identical to someone else’s. So be very patient, even when you’re going through a rough patch. Remember that a bad time does not mean a bad life. Therefore, despite the difficulties, try to maintain a positive attitude towards yourself. Do not doubt your abilities, regardless of what others may say about you. You are your best friend. Be kind to yourself and remember that you are a unique and unrepeatable human being.

3. Get rid of doubts about yourself: If you have prepared yourself to make your dreams come true, and you know that you have within you everything needed to shine, fight for what you want. If necessary, go little by little, but work daily to get rid of the doubts you have about yourself. Despite the blows that life can give you during your time on this planet, remember that everything is temporary. And feel confident that you can face any adversity you may encounter. If you feel that fear invades you, and you are about to give up on your goals, do not listen to those pessimistic voices and go ahead with your plans. Do not allow anything or anyone to turn off the light that shines on you.

4. Take safe risks: What are safe risks? They are those actions that are outside your comfort zone, and that perhaps generate a little fear in you. Don’t be afraid to do something other than what you are used to. Take your precautions, but do not forget that the slight feeling of fear that you feel before trying something new is a sign that you are leaving your comfort zone, and therefore, growing as a human being. Think before you act, but don’t be too suspicious about trying something new. There are many things to try in life, and if you don’t dare to do something new, you could miss out on something very good.

5. Challenge yourself to do something that is outside your usual comfort zone: If the fear about doing something new immobilizes you, why not take it as a challenge to yourself? Challenge yourself to gradually get out of your comfort zone. It does not matter if it takes you time or if you feel fear at first, just do not give up and fight not to fall back into those beliefs and attitudes of life that only limited you and your happiness as a human being. You would be surprised how much you can achieve if you open your mind and shed your absurd fears.

6. Recognize your talent and let it shine: Although you have surely said on many occasions that you are useless, deep down you know that you have several skills that make you unique. Do not be afraid that the world will see all that wonderful light that lives in you. Recognize yourself as a being full of virtues, and without ever losing your humility, let the world know your talents. Don’t be afraid to show your authentic self to the world. If you’ve been made to feel guilty about doing it in the past, don’t listen to those pessimistic voices. You will find someone who does know how to value the beautiful human being that you are.
