Simple Light
A short story
“What do you want from me”, she said, faking some kind of innocence.
“I only want someone to chat with”, he answered, hoping his words sounded as honest as possible.
Both loners were nothing but lost creatures trying to find some sense of belonging in this troubled world.
There was no innocent princess or muscular hero in this story, only a couple of hearts wanting to heal.
For her, it was truly a miracle to believe him for a moment. Her young heart was getting used to such a sweet sensation. Was that love? Not even the young lady was sure of the origin of that feeling, but it was like having a little sunbeam deep in her heart.
He, being older than his young partner, was even weirder. Always surrounded by lots of people, yet, he was always feeling knocked down by some kind of crawling loneliness.
They met just in time to try to help the other to heal some deep wounds, and have some fun along the way.
It was not a dream. It was like a ray of light in the middle of a dark pit of reality.
Not perfect, not idyllic, just natural, like the beating of a heart in love.
