Life Never Stops
A short poem about death
Death, the silent thief in the night
Stealing souls with but a bite
Leaving only memories in its wake
For loved ones to mourn and ache.
It comes for us all, young and old
Without warning, stories untold
But though it takes us in its grip
It cannot touch the love we rip.
A pale shadow hanging behind us
Every single time we breathe,
We cannot touch it, but we feel it
Laughing at our mortal souls.
A momentary lapse of reason,
That clouds our minds up.
Fragility of our existence,
Crawling under our skin.
Some are going to leave,
To make a place for new lives.
Sounds cruel, but it is true.
Life never stops for anyone.
