For you, writers
A little bit of well-deserved praise
I would tell you that you probably doubt it, but if that were the case, you probably wouldn’t be on this site, sharing what you write with the world, or leaving your opinions about what others write.
Just by being here on Medium, I can assume that the written word occupies an important place in your world.
It does not matter if you are part of the so-called “Medium elite”, to which they belong (according to them), less than 10% of writers on this site, earn more than $300 per month with their writing, or if you are a writer like the vast majority of those who inhabit this virtual space, the type who struggles every day to earn a few extra cents by writing.
This little post is a form of praise for you, although I know that, given the economic situation in the world, there would probably be no better compliment for you than to receive a check with many zeros.
But unfortunately, at the moment, it is not in my economic possibility to do so (sorry, guys, maybe one day).
So in the meantime, I let you know that, believe it or not, somewhere in the world, someone (or many people) likes to read what you write. Some may make it public, others not. But no one goes completely unnoticed.
Even if only those closest to you read what you write, take pride in creating something that adds something to the world.
It doesn’t matter if the main tool you use is your creativity or your academic research skills, you still contribute when you write.
And what you do has even more value considering that you dedicate yourself to writing combining it with your other daily occupations.
I know that many times you get up to write, even without really wanting to do it. I know that many times you have gotten up to write feeling that you have the world against you. Perhaps you have no one to tell this to because you know that the well-being of your family is in your hands.
I know that you have spent several sleepless nights, trying to create a text that proves to the whole world that your effort has been worth it. And many times, I know that you have discarded a thousand and one texts, doubting your abilities as a writer.
I know you don’t post about it on Medium or other social media because you’re afraid that some foolish heart will make fun of your effort.
You don’t have to pretend it didn’t happen; absolutely everyone goes through it, only some have perfected the art of hiding it.
Therefore, I want to use this little post to ask you to please keep your motivation up. Take a short break from writing if necessary, and focus on another project, but don’t get discouraged.
Thanks to people like you, the world can be painted in different shades. Thanks to you, the language is still alive and evolving day by day.
Thank you, dear writers, for making us dream of distant places and helping us understand the turbulent planet on which we live.
I know these are not easy times for creators of any kind, so I’m asking you to please hold on.
Even the longest night does not last forever, and if you are patient enough, you will see that more people will read what you write little by little.
Help yourself with various marketing resources for writers that are on the net. A simple Google search can be a good starting point.
But this is not a post about SEO, but to say “thank you”.
