Sorry to disappoint your deepest fantasies, boy. The person who writes those erotic stories that keep you awake at night could be your favorite teacher from Sunday school and there would be absolutely nothing wrong with that.

As crazy as it may sound, I think it is likely that many who have read a fiery-red erotic story here on Medium or anywhere else have stopped to imagine what the person behind the story is like. Many, when thinking of authors of erotic stories, perhaps imagine immensely sexual creatures, as eternal vampires who only satisfy their appetites by putting their darkest desires into words. And I do not doubt that in some cases, those are some actual characteristics of some people who write spicy stories.

However, I have to tell you, most erotica writers are mere mortals, just like you and your friends. Don’t be surprised that perhaps someone from your acquaintances or your teachers write stories or poems of that genre. That is one of the wonderful possibilities of the internet. Some use anonymity to hurt or harm other people, while others use it to free their imagination in a thousand different ways. In an ideal world, anyone should be free to write whatever type of literature they please without fear of being singled out, but as long as there is a certain stigma associated with certain genres, it will be a viable option to create some alternate identity to write with total freedom.

At the end of the road, eroticism is something inherent to the nature of the human being, not just those that appear on the covers of international magazines. It doesn’t matter weight, age, sex, or skin color. We all have the same right to express our fantasies in the way we feel most comfortable doing so.

And realizing that, perhaps, instead of making you feel annoyed with life, for feeling that something so erotic has such earthly origins, should make you feel the immense power of the human imagination. Life would be very boring if the only thing that existed was what is in front of our eyes and we had no power for altering it. Thanks to the power of our creativity, we can modify everything that surrounds us. In the world of ideas, we can be, anyone we want to.

And if we have enough grace and talent for writing, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using our skills to earn extra money or trying to connect with other people. Each person knows how to use their skills in the best way to enrich their own lives and that of others.
